File And Folder Permissions Nightmare

Another long string of wasted hours while trying to win a battle with both Microsoft Windows and Cent OS. The reason for the battle – file and folder permissions. It is quite annoying when you say to a computer “Look, mate, I have permission to modify this file, because IT IS MY FILE (created by me, that is) and the computer replies “Sorry, access denied – you don’t have permissino to blah, blah, blah…”. Typical computer behaviour, isn’t it?
At the end of the long, and at some moments useless, argument with the brains of Bill Gates, Paul Allen and a bunch of a few hundred thousand Linux enthusiasts, things just seemed to work out of the blue. If you have been spending long enough time in front of a computer for the last 10 years, you will know what I am talking about. You have tried a thousand and one solutions to the problem found on support forums, scrolled thousand pages pdf files, browsed countless help knowledge bases. Just before you go ahead and re-install everything from scratch, including your calculator firmware (ok, leave that one alone
), the problem miraculously solves itself. Voila!
Horay! End of the permissions nonsense! Let’s get back to work now.
Rispek!
