Guitarist Magazine 25th Anniversary

I had no idea Guitarist was first published in 1984.

Wow! The Eighties -heavy metal, new wave, pop, the end of the socialist regimes in Eastern Europe. Great times! Is that nostalgia? Maybe. I liked the Eighties.

Great times for metal. 1984 was the year when Manowar released 2 albums – Fighting The World and Hail To England, Metallica – Ride The Lightning, Slayer – Reign In Blood. Just the right time for a magazine for guitar players.

Happy Anniversary and keep on rocking, Guitarist!

Gibson Les Paul Standard tone machine

I recently gave a 2007 Gibson Les Paul Standard to Lubo Malkovski (Er Malak). The guitar was a lovely desert burst flame top axe that was gathering dust in my office. I have played it no more than 10 times. What a shame :(

Anyway, I decided I do not deserve this lovely tone monster and Lubo was just the perfect guy for it. He is a great guitarist who will cherish the guitar and bring out its pure tone in its entirety. I am glad I did that.

Today Lubo told me he was really amazed with the guitar after he played the Les Paul Standard at a rehearsal. Milena Slavova did like the Gibson Les Paul too. I haven’t seen Milen since 2004 or 2005. Wow, time flies…

I am looking forward to getting some recordings of the tone of the Desert Burst played by the guitar virtuozo Lubo Malkovski.

Rispek!

Fender Telecaster

Being a Gibson Les Paul fan I do not normally get fascinated with Fender guitars.

As people grow older they gather knowledge and eventually their preferences evolve. Not that I now prefer Fenders than Gibsons, no, but I kinda like Telecasters. Maybe since I noticed Jim Root from Slipknot used Fender Telecasters (and Billy Gibbons, and Keith Richards, and John 5) I started to pay attention to the sweet twanging tone of the Tele.

I decided to buy one. More feedback – after the purchase.

Gibson Les Paul still rules though!!!

Insurance company blues

It was quite a surprise to receive a call from my insurance company today. It is Sunday – the day even the chronic workaholics get a rest at home. Insurance company – nah, I wouldn’t believe if someone told me!

Maybe the reason, justifying this uber-human act, was hiding modestly behind the six hundred and odd pounds they refused to pay. The original claim was bigger and they are leaving me out of pocket.  I now need to pick up the remaining balance of my builder’s bill.

I am planning to appeal against their decision. At the end of the day I have not claimed for relocation costs for my tenants (which could go close to £1,500) and I have been punished for my honesty.

Lesson learned – NEVER HAVE PITTY/MERCY ON AN INSURANCE COMPANY! Milk them as much as you can. They do not and will not appreciate (meaning taking into account your honesty and modesty when settling your claim) any kind of good intentions from a human being.

I am out. Over.

Played Modern Warfare 2 until 3am this morning. At some point I thought I was starring in a movie. So realistic. Top game since ET release.
